What should i do, I have no money and no insurance for dental work??

I need thousands of dollars of both health and cosmetic dental work on my teeth and can't afford anything :( Any ideas or am i screwed? I live in Chicago !

What should i do, I have no money and no insurance for dental work??
Clean the dentist's office.
Reply:You should able to obtain help through the local health department.
Reply:Here in Missouri there are very few free dental clinics. They definitely don't do cosmetic work, but will sometimes do work for health reasons. Call your local Family Services office and ask for suggestions. Most offices have a local resource listing and may be able to tell you or at least point you in the right direction. Good luck.
Reply:Okay, first of all you need to find som affordable insurance. There are several places were you can get insurance for like 14 bucks a month. (I'll include a link below.) Also, there is one insurance place that even gives you a month trial! I saw it opn TV but cant remember what it is called, but this one I found on the web offers a 45 day trial. http://www.business.com/directory/financ...

Okay, second way to solve your problem is to find a dentist were you can make payments, there have to be some around your parts that will accept people with bad credit, if you have bad credit or cannot qualify for Care Credit. I could not qualify for Care Credit, but am lucky enough to live in Arizona, where they have a place called Western Dental that will finance anyone with no money down. (Maybe you could make a couple trips to AZ or California?)

So, try to find a dentist in Ill. who will finance anyone, or find a co- signer. But Care Credit is very hard to get, I know I tried! Try calling dentists and ask who they get credit through. Some may have in- house financing, or offer someone else besides Care Credit, like AFS, who is easier to qualify through.

Anyways, I know how you feel. It sucks to have bad teeth and I should know because I just barely got mine fixed, insurance covering half the cost, or $1500, which means I only have to finance 1500.

So the point is, get you insurance first, and you can for cheap, like 13 bucks a month. Then find dentist who can finance you. Call around, ask a couple dental offices where you can go in your situation. IF you look hard enough you'll find something.

No matter what, get started now. There is no right time. I just went for one appointment and two months and six appoinments later My teeth are almost done. It can happen for you. And if you get insurance, your exam will be free, which will greatly help you get started. Also, X-rays and other things will be covered. And last, 50% of dental procedures will be covered, so you can go little by little if need be.

BElow are a couple links to other insurance places that seem to have low rates.

Reply:I hate to tell you, but even really good dental insurance might not pay for a lot of cosmetic dentistry work. It does help with some of the bill, but definitely not all of it.

Are you working now? If you already have an estimate for the amount of money it'll take, maybe get another opinion. Then, talk to your dentist to work out a payment plan. Where you pay a little per month to pay off the bill you owe. And if it's $2000, maybe you pay $75/month but they're not charging you interest. As long as you're making an effort to pay them, they should be happy.

Or, you get a new credit card with 0% interest for the first year, charge it on that, and make your payments on the card.

The only other option I can think of is, in my city, they've got dental clinics that charge very little. Some are affiliated with the church but they help everyone. They do stuff like cavities and root canals. If you need basic stuff done, you can go to the clinic. They're still good. The dentists there are mostly retired dentists who are good hearted people. They just don't do cosmetic work. For that, you're going to have to pay.

It covers all previous existing conditions, and it applies immediately. Good luck!
