Is there anywhere a sick person can get free or discounted dental work done in NC? she cant pay and is in pain

I know that some dental schools offer this service, but usually an application is needed and then a long wait. I have helped her some but her dentist said this could be 1500.00 or more. What do people do when in pain and cant qualify for assistance and cant work because of illness? thanks

Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs.

This is a process that will take a couple of months to get your information and then arrange for someone to see you. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

Reply:She can go down to the department of Social Services and apply for whats called "Medicaid". It will cover her, totally free for dentist visits. The day she applies for it, she can visit a dentist that accepts medicaid(The office will furnish a list with a whole bunch of the dentists that do) She can go to the dentist and show that her medicaid application is pending...and she will be seen.
Reply:sorry, this isn't one of those communist countries. everybody gotta pay to ride. that is the heart of american capitalism. sometimes it doesn't work out for the lame, weak and helpless. you can only enjoy such a world by detaching and losing all the emotion and feelings. you just have to detach and concentrate on something else.

Reply:Usually a dentist will work with a patient and accept monthly payments. Maybe she can get a loan through a bank , or an advance at work. She may have to work two jobs to pay them back, but I would think it is worth it. get on the dental school waiting list as soon as possible. Countries with socialized medicine also have long waiting periods!! And the taxes are 45% or more. So be careful what you wish for. I do wish her the very best and hope you find a solution to this dilemma soon.
