Pregnancy and dental work third trimester?

Hello!

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and I have two separate tooth aches. Ive had one tooth filled at about 14 weeks pregnant and now that same tooth is bothering me again! I've only got one week until my third trimester tho! The other tooth is a wisdom tooth that has popped out of my gum half way and is hurting. My oral surgeon only wants to remove the wisdom tooth and not worry about the other one and he doesn't know why the other is bothering me. My dentist agreed with him today at an oral exam and said he doesn't know why the top tooth is bothering me because he doesn't see a cavity but hasn't done a new x ray in a while.

My main question is how many of you have had several dental problems and treatments during pregnancy? and how many had no adverse fetal affects? Also anyone out there who has had fill-ins or teeth removed during the third trimester??

Well I was in my 2ND trimester when my dentist told me that I needed to get my tooth pulled before I hit my third trimester. How every I look it up online and as long as its nothing more than 10 rads (dental x-rays are about 1 rad) than your fine.

Good Luck and I hope your tooth feels better.
Reply:i had dental treatment in the third trimste and it didnt harm my baby!! the third trimster is the safest of all as the baby is strong and nearly fully developed. it is something to do with hormones in the gums that effect your teeth when pregnant i had terrible trouble with my gums throughout
Reply:I have had horrible dental problems throughout my pregnancy. Right before I learned I was pregnant, I began the first stage of extensive dental work. Two weeks later, I found out I was pregnant and told my dentist. He refused to continue working on me. Even after my doctor gave me a note saying it was okay for the work to continue...so, 38 weeks later and I am now missing 2 and a half teeth (one chipped and two actually fell out). Yep, my son will end up having more teeth than his poor mama.

My dentist continues to refuse to do the work. My gums were so swollen and the partially-completed dental work became infected, but he told me to take tylenol and wait it out. Orajel and other pain relievers didn't work. So, my husband bought me a flask of whiskey. I would put the whiskey on a cotton ball and hold it to the infected tooth. That actually did relieve the pain.

Of course, the clerk at the liquor store was shocked when my hubby asked what the cheapest whiskey was so that he could by it for his pregnant wife.
