Can they knock me out to do dental work?

I need to get like 9 metal fillings removed and replaced, but I have extreme clostrophobia and anxiety. Can they knock me out completely and do the procedure? Has anyone out there been put under general anestesia for dental work?

Can they knock me out to do dental work?
I had the dentist put me under to take 4 wisdom teeth out.
Reply:The dentist may do it if you have no seious medical problems,if they cant dont panic they will talk through everything with you.
Reply:yes they can. i have my dentist put my out almost ever time. i cost me an extra 260.00$ but i pay it . some dentist refuse to do it in less your having somthing major done.
Reply:You should probably ask your dentist, but I'm pretty sure you can get knocked out if you want. There are some risks that go along with general anestesia, but nine fillings might take a while, and if you have anxiety issues you can probably convince your dentist that it would be too stressful for you to stay awake during the procedure.
Reply:If you are really that scared you can go to specialist they can offer you several options

like "Nitrous Oxide" what they call laughing

gas, that will make you relax and calm. Also

they can offer the " I.V" Intravenous, where

they make you relax as well but not knockout

but you need someone to be with you. I have not seen totally knockout or general

anesthesia for regular filling. If I were talk

to your dentist and ask his opinion and advice to your situation. And if he don't do

any of it maybe he can refer you to specialist. But one thing I must tell you they

don't come cheap. GOODLUCK!!!
Reply:Hi-I dont know what all procedures they do this for,but when I had my wisdom teeth out, they gave me and IV and instantly I was like out-didnt feel a thing, but sometimes I could hear the drill or some talking, really weird-
Reply:they hate to do that but somethime they can
