Hi!
Can someone tell me if most dentists like to hire those with two year degrees in dental hygiene?
What type of work hours are common?
And what starting salary should be expected for a newbie?
Thank u for any help! : )
Dental hygienists: Typical work hours %26amp; most common degree earned?
Most hire with associates. Do not need bachelors or master unless you plan to work for a corporation in sales/research or instruct at a dental hygiene school. I work in a one dentist/one hygienist practice. Work 8-5 M-W and 8-6 on Th. As far as salary/hrly wage, that depends on your area.
Reply:From what I have heard, most dentists will hire a hygienist with an associates degree, as long as that person is good at his or her job. As a dental assistant, I know that hygienists are in high demand. Also, some hygienists work part time at one office and part time at another, or full time... so it's pretty easy to make your own schedule. As far as salary goes, it depends on experience, the ammount of overhead the dentist has, your geographic area, etc... you may want to ask people in your area who just graduated. I know it's kinda vague, but I hope this helps.
