should i just go ahead and get dentures?
my parents have them as do my 2 older brothers. i have had quite a bit of dental work done to try to save my teeth. i brush and floss after almost every meal. i use Listerine every night before i go to bed. i'm doing pretty much everything i'm supposed to do... except i do still drink Pepsi. BUT, i only drink one a day with my lunch or dinner and it takes me less than 20 minutes to finish. i then immediately brush and floss afterwards. i have tried so many times to stop drinking them altogether, but on the days that i don't drink one, i get migraines and drinking a Pepsi always makes it go away.
it's been suggested that i should just go ahead a get dentures because i will probably end up having to do that anyway. but i'm terrified at having to have all my teeth pulled. i really don't know what to do... i have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning, so i am seeking professional advice.

Get the crowns and try to switch your soft drink addiction. It's the caffeine in there that's helping you so maybe you could try coffee or even, I think, mellow yellow has it. Pepsi and Coke have phosphoric acid in them which eats away at your teeth. Dentures are a POOR substitute for real teeth despite what those with them say. In 37 years of practice I've NEVER had a denture wearer tell me, in the office, that they loved their dentures over their real teeth. Lowers especially are losers and a lot of people don't even wear them to eat with. Talk with your dentist about your fears and good luck with keeping your teeth and the bone that supports them.

If you get all your teeth pulled and get dentures at a young age it will eventually lead to a wearing down of the jaw bone and you may not like the way your face looks with a worn down jaw bone. However, this can take several years to happen and if you are older it probably wont bother you as much.

i am a single mother and i dont have alot of money i need some dental work done real bad for cheap or free is possiable...i live in granbury texas but i can go anywhere close to here that aint to far away

Call your community colleges in your area. Most of them have dental schools and do work for students to learn but are over seen by dentist. It saves alot of money.

Other then teeth whitening, what other dental work is considered cosmetic, and cannot be deducted?
Last year, I had over $6,000 in dental work done, and my husband had around $4,000. We had no insurance and all of it was out of pocket. I know I cannot claim the whitening, but is there anything else that I should not claim? Normal services, extractions, fillings, xrays, stitches, partials, and a bridge were completed. The fillings are the more expense white ones, does that make any difference?

The difference is between health versus vanity. Tooth decay can lead to heart problems. So for each expense, ask yourself was this cost for my heart or is it for the way other people see me.

What are my legal rights with dental work?
What legal rights do I have with dental work? I paid $1600.00 for a crown and root canal. It was 6 months ago, and I have some slight pain and sensitivity. The dentist tried to fix the 'bite' 3 times, but it still feels the same.

If he finds an obvious problem with the way the work was done, talk to an attorney or your state board. I'm thinking that it might be possible for you to be reimbursed by the dentist that did the work.
It's possible though that the sensitivity is normal. I've also heard of crowns "failing".

They are merely independant contractors governed by the same principles of law - Independant boards of trade or medical regulations for ethics and so on exist in all trades and operate the same way
Look up Ornemental Iron workers and look through the self reglatory board and the look up the doctors From a legal stand point they are not different

Then have either the state dental board or your dental insurance carrier review the records to see whether or not it was done to the accepted standards. If it is not, you have a case. If it is, you don't.

What are the ramifications of having dental work done while pregnant?
does anyone know whether or not you can have dental work done while preggers? More specifically have a cavity filled w/ the use of gas. Tooth is majorly hurting and it needs to get fixed like now. Just wondering if anyone had any information?

Going to the dentist is very important while pregnant. I went all throughout mine and my little guy is fine. I could not have any gases just novicain. Just a side note...my little guy moved like crazy when they were drilling!!
Reply:You need to go to the dentist because oral health effects overall health. But just when you go to the dentist let them know that you are pregnant. My doctor told me to make sure that I go to the dentist while I was pregnant. I would just call and make sure with your doctor if you are nervous but, it shouldn't be a big deal. They might not be able to give you gas because that would go to the baby, but you can have novicaine.
Reply:It is not recomended that you have gas or nitrousoxide while being pregnant. I am sure that if you tell your dentist you are pregnant he/she may not give you any. You can have a shot of novacane though. That should be Okay'd by your doctor. Do not get any x-rays though, that should be common sense. I have had a lot of work done through out my pregnancy but I have not had gas or x-rays. This is just what my doctor has told me and what my dentist has done. Remember to consult your doctor first . OK, I'm skint and need dental work, my brother's a dentist but I know he just scraped a pass at Uni...
should I just go for the free dental work? am I risking my teeth unneccessarily

How long has he been a dentist, since uni? If he's only just started, I'd be a bit cautious - although he did pass, so he clearly knows enough to be considered fit to work as a dentist. If he's been working for some time, then he may well have improved anyway.
Bear in mind, too, that you just happen to have inside knowledge about his qualifications - you could pay to go to another dentist who did just as badly at their studies!
